The Catur are a species of nomadic, cat-like humanoids which inhabit the arid southern continent. Catur live simple lives as nomadic tribes, traveling from oasis to oasis and have no written history, as such it is impossible to deduce whether they arrived in Thalesmere during the Convergence, or if they are a race of original inhabitants of this world.
Catur have a very high reproductive rate and significant magical affinity, especially towards water magic, as the harsh conditions of their environment have forced them to reproduce at a high enough rate to replace population loss. Catur are a hardy people with a vibrant culture, centered around enjoying the present and celebrating numerous religious holidays through singing and dancing. Their diet is mostly carnivorous and Catur are excellent hunters with an extremely high talent for sneaking, often resulting in their employment as assassins.
The Catur's first contact with another race is a very recent event, having occurred a mere two hundred years ago, when humans began to colonize the Southerlands. Sadly, their encounters with humans tend to be violent, as the humans have a tendency to enslave the Catur as plantation workers and entertainers, leading to a bitterness and wary attitude towards other races. The Catur are fierce warriors, extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat, as well as archery and spear fighting, making them a challenging opponents and Catur raids on human settlements and trade routes are a common occurrence.
